She is a member of the Gbegyl tribe and follows the Muslim faith. She later earned a degree in civil engineering from the University of Minnesota. She subsequently worked with the Minnesota Department of Transportation Design unit until She also served as a consultant for Belsam Limited and worked as a regional engineer for Lodigiani Nigeria Limited in Lagos from to Ireti Kingibe was formerly married to Baba Gana Kingibe, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, with whom she has children.
