Built in by Henry Heinrich D. Gruene, is the oldest continually run dance hall in Texas. It is situated in the historic town of Gruene, now a part of New Braunfels, Texas. The hall still retains its authentic design with a 6,square-foot dance floor and a high-pitched tin roof. Originally known as Goodwin, Gruene, Texas was a settlement of German farming families in the mid-nineteenth century.

Ernst Gruene, an immigrant from Germany, moved to the area near New Braunfels with his wife and sons in The family purchased land downriver from New Braunfels and began establishing the town, which later became known as Gruene.
